My coaching advice for rising executives is evergreen. It’s a breakthrough career blueprint that you can take to the bank, regardless of where you are in your career.
But why do most emerging leaders overlook and underemploy a high-results framework to boost and sustain careers? The most obvious answer is that building a framework takes thought and time that needs to be applied in a continuous cycle–not just when you feel overlooked, underutilized and under compensated.
The good news is that once you build a framework, the timeline to reach your defined goals is shortened considerably. Working with an executive coach to create a framework will provide a solution to a common problem: not having the time to work on your career until you absolutely have to–when there’s a higher degree of uncertainty, disruption and coherence in how you make decisions. Here’s how you can build a lasting structure quickly.
The first step in the process is forming a PLAN. This will be the backbone of every action that you take going forward.
The coach is in, and here’s what I want you to do: Put pen to paper–a blank piece of paper. Make it a grid, graph or chart of your choosing. Ensure that it’s comfortable to use, visually appealing and accessible. Map out your goals and include short- and long-range priorities. Yes, very low-tech, but I want you to see it multiple times a day in your surroundings. It works.
That’s step 1! More to come on the PLAN.
