I’m putting my personal brand on the line for all executive job seekers and Board Director hopefuls in this blog. You will get my honest assessments, well-researched perspectives, innovative ideas, confidence, knowledge, ethics and branding strategies. My goal is to be your CBO—Chief Branding Officer, as well as a true sounding board for ideas, issues, challenges and questions about the executive marketplace, boardroom dynamics and business leadership trends.
I will identify and debunk some marketplace mythologies that are pervasive and become “orange road-cone” obstacles for executives who want to sustain and propel their careers into the C-suite or boardroom. You know those orange cones during road construction: they force you to take a circuitous route that lengthens your drive time. It’s someone else’s agenda, not yours. The more road cones you think you have to get around, the harder it is to see and reach your end goal with streamlined finesse.
But I won’t just poke holes in nearly worn-out tires of job-search mythology. That wouldn’t be fair; I’ll recommend new tires with tread and traction.
